New vape product regulations New vape regulations were introduced in October 2024 with enhanced product standards for all vaping products imported to (from 1 March) and supplied in (from 1 July) Australia. See frequently asked questions (FAQs) at the end of this post for more information. These regulations do not affect how you access vaping products. You can still purchase vape products from pharmacies; devices and liquid with nicotine concentration of 20mg/mL or less, without a prescription. Compliant products Last updated 15 Aug 2025. Discontinued products From 1 March 2025, products that do not meet the enhanced product standards can no longer be imported to Australia. From 1 July 2025, products that do not meet the enhanced product standards can no longer be supplied in Australia. This affected 95% or more of our vaping devices and accessories. Not exactly, since vapes are unapproved therapeutic goods. From our understanding, a sponsor notifies the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) of compliance and holds evidence as proof. TGA can request the evidence for assessment. However, vaping products are not on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) which generally requires TGA assessment for quality, safety, efficacy and performance before registration. Can I use discontinued vapes from 1 July? Yes. You can use discontinued vape products after 1 July as the regulations require ceasing supply to, not use by, patients. Is there warranty on discontinued vapes? Yes, our warranty and returns policy applies to discontinued products if there is a product issue within our warranty period. However only store credit or refund can be issued for products which are no longer available. Discontinued products are not covered by our change-of-mind returns policy. What is a compliant vape? A compliant vaping product is: declared as being compliant with vaping regulations by the product's Australian sponsor (the company who imports it) through the process of notifying TGA one whose sponsor holds evidence of compliance (e.g. testing reports, certifications) assigned a TGA notification number without which pharmacies cannot sell it on TGA's notified vape list. Why can't I find replacement products? If your vaping device was discontinued on 1 July, you will not find replacement parts in the compliant list of device accessories. You will need to purchase a compliant vaping device if you have run out parts for your discontinued vape. Why does TGA's notified vape list contain discontinued products? TGA's notified vapes list did include discontinued products up until 30 June, since those products were compliant with previous product standards and could be supplied until 30 June. TGA has since updated the list to only include products compliant with the new product standards introduced in October 2024.
